If you are new here, you might want to subscribe to the RSS feed to make sure you don't miss a thing on texified! Post from: texified

I was was on the ground after being knocked off from my horse. It was a green grassy meadow in the midst of a forest. I got up and leaped onto the back of another horse, knocking the rider off into the grass. The other riders and I fought men running about us with spears and knives. We were all dressed in animal skins, and it seemed that our weapons were tipped with flint. To the left was an advancing wall of shifting greyness, appearing as a wall of advancing rain. But I knew that the shifting grey wall was not rain, and that as it advanced it destroyed and dissolved the world. Against this advancing wall of chaos, we fought. I fought near another rider, a woman with long dark hair, wild and touseled. She wielded her spear with deadly efficiency, controlling the black horse with her bare thighs as it ran and reared among the attacking men.

The dream was extremely realistic, and I still remember it after many years. I have no idea what it means–if anything. Our minds can produce some interesting things sometimes. I often have what I call “precognitive dreams,” dreams that seem to foretell the future. They are not about any important events, but small insignificant things of no consequence. The first time that I remember this sort of dream was when I was a teenager with a paper route delivering the Dallas Morning News. I would awaken at 3:45 am and bicycle down to a gas station where all the papers were dropped for all the carriers in that part of town. We would sit on the curb of the station, fold our papers, bag them and set out for our delivery routes. The lights inside the station were always on and there was a wall clock by which I told the time. One morning as I reached the gas station, I noticed that the lights were out. I retrieved my papers and sat down and began folding them and putting rubber bands about them. There was something niggling at my memory as I did this, and as I looked up at the clock and saw that the clock had stopped, I suddenly remembered a dream that I had that night in which the lights on the station were out and the clock had stopped.

Since that night I have had numerous dreams which seem to somehow reflect something that will happen the next day. Usually I never remember the dream until the events occur which immediately causes me to remember the dream of the night before. Being a natural skeptic I often wondered whether the events simply made me think that I had dreamed the situation. However, over the years I am convinced that it this isn’t correct, and that I actually do dream these things that occur. Without fail the happenings are seemingly completely trivial and unimportant, so as to why they occur, I have absolutely no idea. Now, if anything of this sort actually occurs, it is outside our present knowledge of the way things are. I have training in science, and I certainly am not a person given to flights of fancy divorced from society’s idea of consensual reality. But these things occur, and I do not know their nature.

Down on the beach this morning, I saw the following: Common mergansers, Pigeon Guillimot, Double Crested Cormorant, either Horned or Eared Grebes, Bald Eagle (flying low over the water startling some birds into flight and causing others to dive).
